Here the larger part of the cannon, mortar, and Pnix-bans are made. The order and strict military discipline and the rigidity of the rules of the institution, made it out of the question, on that occasion, for us to visit the workshops, and hence we hurried along to the Alleghany Cemetery, a short distance from the Arsenal. This borne of the dead, is tkepoinL which should not bo overlooked by those visiting Pittsburgh, for it is said, by tho best judges, and almost without a quid ill* cation, that it is the most beautiful of all the resting places of the States. There are about 300 acres enclosed, including the West slope, the top, and the part of the Eastern declivity of die Alle* ghenny hills; and the native trees,so far as possible and compatible, wiLh excellent taste, arc preserved ; every point which could be decorated by some cvur-grcen, such ns piuc, c., has received due nLUnliort.
