Charles A. Downing, Jr., 41, of 29 Glenview ave., died of carbon-mon oxide asphyxiation early Saturday morning in his garage, according to local police. Police reported Mrs. Downing, wife of the deceased, found Mr. Downing sitting in his car in the closed garage. The gasoline tank registered empty, indicating the machine had been running for sometime. Dr. T. S. Gabreski of Oil City, Venango county’s deputy coroner, stated last night that he had issued a certificate of suicidal death from ecarbon-monoxide fumes. Mr. Downing was born March 2, 1907, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Downing, Sr. His father now resides at 27 Selden ave. He had been employed a num ber of years at the Pennzoil Co. and also had an interest in the Rouse ville Diner. Besides his father and wife, he is survived by two children, Kenneth who is now serving with the U. S. navy, and Donna May, at home; four brothers, Harry of Erie, and Kenneth, Robert and Howard of Rouseville; three sisters, Mrs. Bea trice Heckathorne of Kane, Mrs. Lillian Kirk of Ft. Worth, Tex., and Mrs. Ruth Shantz of Oil City, R. D. 1. The body is at the family home. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p. m. Tuesday in Rouseville Methodist church with the pastor, Rev. David M. Hasbrouck, officiat ing. Interment will be made in Rynd Farm cemetery.
