Tommy Campbell Victim of WarSgt. Thomas *j. Campbell, popular Camden youth, was killed in | action on November 16 somewhere iii France, according to a message received by his mother, Mrs. Guy L. Campbell. In December, Mrs. Campbell had received a telegram rom ttie War Department saying her son was missing in action. Since then, it lias been determined 1 e was killed according to the War Department message just re ceivea.Sgt. Campbell arrived oversesas in the European theatre in Octo her and became a casualty just a few weeks after going into the war area. In fact, he was reported missing just a few days after going into tlie front lines, He was t in the sector where the Germans 1 staged their last final offensive and bieakthrough last November.Sgt, Campbell was a member t u Gen Patch’s Seventh Army.Prior to going overseas, he had 'crved two years in Alaska with £ iiv old 206th Battery of Camden He entered the National Guard ■'everal years before Pearl Harbor and had served with the Cam i den Battery and left with ft in 1 January, 1941. for Fort Blis^, Tex- I as From Fort Binhe went to Alaska with the 206th and then : aftei serving up in that bleak wilderness for two years, returned : to the states and transferred to tho 1 Infantry.
