John McDonnell Passed Away After Short Ilness—Active Pioneer of Early Days. John McDonnell died last Friday at the Deaconess hospital after a year of failing harth, due princi pally to his extreme age. He was 90 years old. An operation had been performed in the hope of saving his life, but he was not able to overcome its effects. Mr. McConnell had been seriously ill but a few days prior to his death, and was only removed to the hospital on Wednesday of last week. When death came his son Ed ward, daughter-in-law Mrs. W. L. McConnell and two nieces were at his bedside. Another son, Emmett, ar rived from his home too late to see his father before his death. John McConnell has been a prom inent figure in the development of Gallatin valley and this section of Montana for the past 50 years. He was born in Ireland, coming to this country when about 16 years old, finally locating in Iowa as a young man, where he married. He then started for Montana, arriving at (Continued on Page Ten.)
