THOMAS TRANTERObituary Of Old Oxford TownshipResident.Martha Ann Kepford was born in Oxford township, December 13, 1852 and dibd March 23, 1917, at the age of 65 years, 3 months and 7 days, i Although her death came as the result of a short illness, she was a patient sufferer for several years. During this time however she took the part of a perfectly well woman in the activities of this life, always cheerful and obliging to her family and friends, and always ready to do her share and more than her share in promoting the welfare of her neighbors and the entire community. As a wife and mother her place was ideally filled; for always she placed the welfare of her family before her own. Mrs. Tranter lived practically her entire life in this vicinity, and her friends are numbered by the hundreds, all of whom felt her loss keenly.On Decembe 24, 1871 she was united in marriage to Thos. Tranter, and to this union were born ten i children; Mrs. D. A. Edwards of Brooklyn, Mrs. Luther Saxton, Mrs. Ray Harper, Mrs. Wesley Gegenhei-mer and E. Thos. Tranter of Oxford, Mrs John Shay of Tiffin, Mrs. Carl Kehne of Cedar Rapids, Elma and Margaret at home, one child having died in infancy.Those left to morn her loss are the husband and nine children, and seven brothers and sisters; John Kepford and Mrs. Tony Bast of Buck Grove, Iowa, Joe Kepford of Arion, Iowa, Jake Kepford of Spirit Lake Dave Kepford of Des Moines, Ed. Kepford of Crawford county, Mrs. Frank Jones of Moorhead, Iowa.
