Harman, he pur-rchased the store and several yearslater bought. out the interests'o Harman.Sound business judgment and careful business management marked his administration from the first and soon the building which he purchased became entirely inadequate for the volume of the business. Improvement followed improvement until today there is hardly a vestige of the original store left and instead of a two-story building, 40x60 feet, there is a handsome three story structure, 16x112 feet, in addition to a basement that runs the entire length of the stoie, and an attic which is required to handle the immense stock the store Carries. Duplicate stock is also carried in a storage house. The building, located on Market Square, is one of the show buildings of the town, with its handsome pressed brick ami blue stone front, large, well designed windows, and the handsome display windows, of solid glass, which occupy the entire first floor froal. Only recently, Mr, Pursel caused a handsome metal ceiling to be placed on the first floor of the store, which with the brilliant lighting, adds greatly to the beauty of the interior. This floor is given over to a complete stock of dry goods and notions on the one side and groceries and shoes on the other. The second floor is given over to an extensive ladies’ ready made department, queens ware department and in a finely appointed room on the front, giving a maximum amount of light, the ladies’ cloak and suit department. The entire third floor is used in the display of one of the largest stocks of furniture in Central Pennsylvania.Twenty-five people are given const;! employment and four horses are in constant use to handle the immense trade. A freight elevator system, private heating plant and a cash system add to the conveniences of this, one of Central Pennsylvania's largest and best conducted stores.JOHN W.
