Pursel lias built up one of th‘e largest store businesses in Central Pennsylvania, /With a store more than twice as large as that which he purchased and a business three and a half times as great.Twenty-nine years ago Mr. Pursel entered the store of I. W. McKelvy and clerked there until 15 years ago When, with S. H. Harman, he purchased the store and several yearslater bought, out the interests of win Harman.Sound business judgment and careful business management marked bis administration from the first and soon the building which he purchased became entirely inadequate for the volume of the business. Improvement followed improvement until today there is hardly a vestige of the original store left and instead of a two-story building, 40x60 feet, there is a handsome three story structure, 10x112 feet* in addition to a basement that runs the entire length of the store, and an attic which is required to handle the immense stock the store carries. Duplicate stock is also carried in a storage house.The building, located on Market Square, is one of the show buildings of the town, with its handsome pressed brick ami blue stone front, large, well designed windows, and the handsome display windows, of solid glass, which occupy the entire first floor front. Only recently, Mr. Pursel caused a handsome metal ceiling to be placed on the first floor of the store, which with the brilliant lighting, adds greatly to, the beauty of the interior.This floor is given over to a complete stock of dry goods and notions on the-one side and groceries and shoes on the other.The second floor is given over to an extensive ladies’ ready made department, tiuecnsware department and in
