F. C. Hall Is Charged With Getting Money By Bogus Checks. Frederick C. Hall, electrician, 29 years old, who says his home is in Ohio, was commmitted to court yesterday by Justice Garland, at the Eastern Police Station, on three charges—obtaining $6 by means of a bogus check from Stafford Co., coal dealers, Caroline and Lancaster streets, on April 1; securing $4 by the same method from Oliver P. McComas, a coal dealer, 536 Light street, on March 31, and attempting to pass a worthless check on C. Harry Merryman, Pratt and South streets, on April 3. Hall's alleged method of procedure was the same in each case. Calling up Stafford Co. by telephone, he ordered a ton of soft coal to be delivered at a certain wharf and requested that the driver be given change for $10. Meeting the driver, he is said to have given a check for the amount, receiving the change in return. He called up Miller Bros., paint dealers, and ordered some supplies to be sent to the wharf at the foot of Hughes street. One of the mem bers of the firm became suspicious and called up the Eastern police authorities with the It that Patrolman Command followed the wagon and arrested Hall.
