Wright:—Delilah Wright wns born April 30th, 1833, and died at the hnnie of Jane Addington, March 23d, 1899, aged sixty-flve years, ten mouths and twenty-three days She was the widow of Amos Wright of whom wo have full as suitince preceded her to the better land by twenty years and thirteen days.Grandma Wright, as she was usually called by her acquaintances, was ioved and esteemed by all those who knew her because of her kindness; always having a good word for all those whom she met.She was the mother of eleven children, two of whom died in infancy, leaving four boys and five girls, all of whom are now married and settled in life. She was the grandmother of twenty-eight children and the great grandmother of two. At her husband’s death she was left with several small children, for whom she labored and toiled very earnestly to bold her family to gether, but a3 time passed and all the children having married, homo bereft of her last idol, she was persuaded to break up housekeeping and live with them. She dearly loved her children but no longer to he u bouse-keeper was one of tiie hardest tasks of her life.Mothers seldom take greater care of their children than did Mother Wright. Nothing in reason was too good for mother to share with her children; often depriving herself of pleasures and necessities that she might give her children. But now in return, and at the close of her earthly journey, her kind and loving children also her grand children have faithfully, honestly and willingly stood close beside the wishes of their dear mother, leaving nothing undone that could possibly be done to lessen herjsorrow audpain, aud add to her joy and pleasure. She often expressed a great desire to live solely to be with her children, but as disease had so encroached upou her body that life was full of pain, and seomed to he a burden to those around her, she willingly said “Lord, thy will be done.”A better mother to her children and a better family of children to their mother, is seldom if ever found. Whilst the children and friends feel the deep loss of a loving mother and a kind acquaintance, yet they can console themselves with the full assurance that if we waik as Christ would have us, we can meet dear mother where sorrow, sickness and pain can never enter, hut in place, all will he joy and happiness to dwell with mother, Christ and the angels forever and iorever.Oh! that Glorious Day, that Glorious Day.Mother Wright was taken sick at the home of her youngest sou Alton Wright, near Five Points, and while there was thought to be near unto death ft r several weeks, but having revived was moved to her daughter's. On Jan. 26th, while yet at her son's, she called to her bedside for prayer, all of her children and sev oral of her grand children and other persons present one by one, until 24 prayers had been offered iu her behalf. Here is what she said to some of those whom she called to pray:I “John Tucker, 1 used to hear you j pray aud it did me so much good, I would like to hear you pray once mure.”Ella Tucker, I want to hear you pray. When we lived so close together you did me many a favor and 1 never forgot you.” “I waut to hear Bister Crum pray—1 want to hear Mr. Crum too. Where is Alt Hiatt? 1 want to hear you pray. Mother, said Alt, there are others here who can pray better than I “Yos, but I want to hear you pray Where is Marietta? Can’t you pray? Mother would like to hear you ouce more.” When little Gertie her grand daughter prayed, she said, “God bless you dear child.”All the children were present at the funeral except Mahion. who was called to his home in Anderson by the sickness of his wife, and Fremont, who was notable to lo. ve the house.Funeral services were couducted at the New Dayton Church by Hey. Silas Cox, assisted by Rev. Thomas Addington. The family and relatives of the late Delia!) Wright desire to return their sincere and heartfelt thanks to the kind friends and neighbors for their sympathy arid kindness dur ing their late and sad bereavement.
