. Kenosha man was in critical condition this morning at Vic tory Memorial Hospital, Waukegan, Ill., after his car collided with a train in Russell, Ill., on Wednesday. Ronald Cutler, 22, 5303 85th St., was driving west when a southbound Chicago North western train with 122 cars hit the rear right side of his car. The car was crossing tracks on State Line Road about a mile west of Green Bay Road, said Lake County Sheriff's Lt. Vernon Cook. Cook said the car spun around and was hit a second time by the train and was pushed about 80 feet south and west of the cross ing. The train was moving at less than 30 miles per hour at the time of the accident. Engineer Edward Lindsey, 39, Glen Ellyn, Ill., told sheriff's deputies he spotted Cutler’s ve hicle, sounded the train’s horn and applied the emergency brake. Cutler sped to get through the crossing, the engineer re ported. An officer at the scene said the crossing lights and bell appeared to be working. There is no gate at the intersection. Cook said officials were un able to get any statement from the driver.
