Friends Of Library Elects New Officers At Recent MeetingFFriends of the Library met ! Thursday, March 30, in the Na-, tional Room of the First National Bank to elect new officers.President Walter Riley presided. Minutes of the last annual meeting were read by the Secretary, Mrs. Bill Vincent, followed by reports from Treasurer, Jim Frve: Membership Chairman, Mrs. Francis Felty; Publicity, Mrs. John Frookman; and Mrs. Jack Smith, Financial Chairman.The slate of nominees for office was presented by Chair-man of the Nominating Commit tee, Mrs. Francis Felty and was unanimously accepted.Elected to seive for the 1967-OS term, were Rev. Mon Youngblood, President; Cliff Wampler Vice President; Secretary Mrs. Ted Roark. Jim Frye will complete the second year of a two year term as Treasurer.Passing the gavel to Rev. Youngblood, Waiier Riley stepped down as President after expressing his appreciation to; the members for liieir partici-; pation during his office and recalling the history of the organization. , . „Cliff Wampler succeeds La-moin Champ as Vice President and Mrs. Ted Roark accepted the books from Past Secretary, Mrs. Bill Vincent.Mrs. Jack Smith was re-elected Finicial Chairman. Publicity :hairman, Mrs. John Brookman md Membership Chairman, Mrs. Francis Felty, continue twoyear terms.Others present were Mrs. Jim Frye, Mrs. Walter Riley, Mrs. Marjorie Kauer, member of the Library Board and Roy Majors.A delicious birthday cake, baked by Mrs. Jack Smith, to celebrate the first birthday of Friends of the Library, was cut by Past President, Walter Riley and enjoyed by all.Friends of the Library wasoiganized by civic-minded citizens who believed our town would be a heller place in which to live if it had a first-rate library and then proceeded ti help make it so.From a beginning with 64 members, it has grown to a total membership of 275. Three became hfe members by donating $100 each. They are A. R. Hill. Mrs. Hill and C. B. Bowles.Bv donations, receipts from bake sales, a square dance, a day’s proceeds from the bowling lanes and door to door can vassing, the Friends of the Library have acquired an appiox. imate bank balance of $7,500 w'ith which to expand the library program.To become a friend of the library, all that is necessary is to pav dues.
