Every independent school dis trict in Cameron county, with the exception of Rio Hondo, has a con test for the places on school boards to be filled in elections Saturday, and both Raymondville and Ly ford districts in Willacy county have contests. In San Benito seven candidates are seeking the three places to be filled on the board. Incumbents, John Benson and Jack Lomax are seeking reelection. Other candi dates are Mrs. Bob Gause, Leon Thompson, Robert Huseman, W. D Todd, and Leon Tumberlinson. Clyde Fincher, a member of the board whose term is expiring, did not seek reelection. Holdover trustees are Joe Smith, Ray Gom ez, Clocis Echols, and Jesse Fox. Santa Rosa In Santa Rosa five candidates have filed for three places on the board. Incumbents Charles C. Eu banks, Ben E. Bearden Jr., and Eddie Ostrowski all seek reelec tion. Other candidates in the race include Edward L. Patterson Jr. and Charles N. Dudley. Four candidates seek three, places on the Los Fresnos board, of education. Cleburne Humphrey, W. S. Na kayama, and Chester Macombe, whose terms expire, all filed for, another term. The only other can didate is O. A. Roberts. Three candidates, including two ‘incumbents, seek election to the’ two places to be filled on the ‘school board at Port Isabel. Mrs. Beatrice Floyd and Floyd Bobbett seek reelection to the positions they now hold. Leo Sanders is the only other candidate. Six candidates in La Feria seek tthree places on the school board. J. E. McDonald Jr., and A. H. Graham, present members of the board, seek reelection. Other can didates are J. R. Adams Jr., Lew is Coleman, Woodrow Wisdom, and Felix Till, Brownsville At Brownsville two incumbents ,and a former member of the board are among the five candidates seeking two positions to be filled in the board. Newton Liddell and M. E. Gar kin, members of the board, have filed for reelection. Jimmy Pace, who served on the board 17 years until defeated last year, and ‘Raymond Hinojosa and Warren J. ‘Ditch are the other candidates. The two incumbents, B. J. ‘Simpson and George D. Marshall, ‘whose terms expire in Rio Hondo, ‘are unopposed for reelection to the board. _ Four candidates are making the race for two positions on the Ly ‘ford school board. Raymond Ha cott and J. O. Smith, both incum bents, filed for reelection. They are opposed by Don Guest and Bobby Evans. Sven Vassberg fil ed for a place on the ballot, but has withdrawn from the race. Two places on the Raymondville school board are to be filled in an election Saturday, and six candi dates are seeking the posts. The candidates are B. E. Griffin, How ard Thurman, Bert Brown, Dr. Vern F. Georgeer, Thomas N. Ful ler and Bert Johnson. Terms of Charles P. Beasley, president of the board, and Andrew Harbin expire, but neither filed for reelection.
