John Berry, one of Weston county’s pioneer citizens,died last night at about 10:30, of heart fail ure. Mr. Berry had been engaged in joint debate with Jas. O. Murts, - C. Holst, Judge Nichols, Prof. L. Frazier, I. C. Jefferis and Felix Newton. Mr. Berry had just finished speaking, and was followed by Mr. Marts. While engaged in an ar gument with Mr. Marts, he sud denly sat down and collapsed. Medical aid was promptly sum moned but Mr. Berry never re gained consciousness. Mr. Berry has lived in Weston County for upwards of thirty years and has been prominently identified with the growth and developement of the country. He served as county surveyor for many years, and surveyed the Northwestern railroad which runs through the central part of the state. He is survived by a wife and two daughters, who have the sympathy of the entire community in their be reavement.—Upton News-Letter. The amended fish law in South Dakota permits fishing between April 1st and November 1st, and twenty-five fish is the limit for one day.
