Givan, daughter of Nathan and Mary Barkley, was born near Sparta, Auggst £4, 1865, died March 26,1896, being 30yr. 7 mo. and 2 days old.She was married toChas. M.Givan Apr. 15,1888. She leaves a husband, two children, father, mother, two brothers,four sisters and a legion of relatives and friends to mourn. Maggie was a kind and obedient daughter, a faithful and loving wife and mother, an affectionate sister and a good neighbor. Those who knew her best loved her most. She was a member of the Sparta Baptist church for fourteen years and follov/ed in the footsteps of Christ until he called her home. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Mch. 29, l»v Rev. Bower. The congregation was very large fully one fourth of the people who were there could not he accommodated with even standing room I in the Baptist church. At the close of the service the choir sang—“God ; be with you ’till we meet again,” after which the remains were taken to Mt. Sinai and there placed in the vault to await interment.“The book is completed.And closed like the day;And the hand that has written It.Lays It away.”Longfellow.
