pocxeis 01 loose woo neeu.The Prewcott Transcript, under the heading of “A Cose of Moral Insanity,” says that a Frenchman named Alex. Higson, recently stole fire land office duplicates of Capt. Joseph Wood, then assumed his name and tried to sell them.— lie was nabbed by the police, just as he was dosing the bargain. The matter was duly examined by Justioe Bailey, and Higson ordered to find bail in the sum of $1000 for his appearance before the Circuit Court at the May term, in default of which he was committed to jail.The Transcript says: “Higson acknowledges all but the stealing of the duplicates ,* says he found them in the road, *‘in the big hollow beyond Mr. Gray’s.” He is a tall, slim, awkward, sheepish-looking fellow, with a low forehead and tremendous depth of under jaws, and wears a red shirt. His fAtber, he states, lifts in Niagara eounty, N. Y.”
