PLAKK ROADS.The Plank Road south is getting along, with a fair prospect of completion to Deer Creek this season. The President has called for bids forconstructing the first 14 miles from the south side of the Wabash. The work is to be completed by the 1st of July. A greater quantity of mud in the same distance, in a wet time, will be hard to find; and the intelligence that the mud on the mile strip is to be planked down, must be very gratifying to all haulers of heavy loads. The sawing of the plank, c., for the road, progresses finely. The ground will soon be dry enough to grade, and the work of laving down•• Othe plank will be pushed ahead with vigor.—Speaking of plank roads:—the citizens of Lafayette, Delphi, Peru, and we believe Wabash and Lagro, and Fort Wayne, are stirring themselves and kicking up quite a dust about the mud. They seem determined to have good roads; and they ought to, after living knee deep in mud for fifteen or twenty years.
