SSC Claims Twin BillMAGNOLIA (Special) — Southern State cleaned up in a double-header here Saturday afternoon against Arkansas State Teachers College with scores of 6-3 and 11-4.In the first game Charlie Jones went all the way for SSC winning his first game of the season against two losses. George Jones started for the Bears and stands 0-2 for the year.SSC pounded Jones and his relief Randy Rauton for 12 hits.David Bennett got a home run and a single in four trips for SSC. Jim Downs was 2-2 with a triple and a single. Eddie Cogbum of Smackover was 2-3 with a double. Rusty Kauffman and Don Williams were each 2-4.Jones scattered five hits going the route for a win, all singles except Bob Tiner's double for the Bears. No Bear chalked up more than one hit.The second game found Lou Crua, an SSC freshman, winning his third game against one loss. He stayed all the way for the Muleriders. Loser was Gaye Horton, now one for one.SSC shelled three Bear pitchers, gaining 12 hits.Kauffman was 2-4 with one homer. Don Williams was 2-5, Crua 2-4 and Ed Bacon knocked a triple. John Brainerd.
