From seventy-eight countieB reports have been received, showing that there were 2,444 widows of confederate s ildicrs among the people. This would make an average of 31 widows to each count}'. Taking this cs a basis, there-would be 4,247 widows iu the state, and ab they each are to receive $10Q if they prove themselves entitled to a pension, it will require $424,700 to pay their pensions.
