Many friends throughout this sec tion were saddened early Sunday morning upon learning that Mrs. Laura Elizabeth Harrell, mother of Mrs. Noel Williamson, had passed away at 7:30 o'clock, at her daugh ter’s residence, 526 North Crawford street. Funeral services were held Mon day at four o’clock from her late residence on North Crawford street, attended by a large con course of relatives and friends, El der T. Josh Davis, Primitive Bap tist minister of Meigs and Rev. T. F. Callaway, pastor of the First Baptist church of this city, con ducting the service, which was simple and unostentatious as was the life of this good woman, whose casket was covered with many beautiful flowers symbolic of the purity of her life. Following the services at the home the body was carried to Lau rel Hill cemetery, where it was ten derly laid to rest, many friends joining with loved ones in a last tribute of love and esteem in this final rite. Acting, as pallbearers, were the following gentlemen: Messrs. Jack and Harold Turner, Brown Cooper, kh. §. Cassidy, R W. McMillan, Louis Huggins, Morris Crawford and W. R. Daniel. The deceased was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wade Augus tus Kelly, pioneer residents of Tho mas county. She was born March 18, 1870, at the old family home stead south of Cairo in that section of Grady county formerly in Tho mas county. She was the widow of the late Mr. Johnson Harper and Mr. Ed Harrell, of Grady county and is survived by one daugh ter, Mrs. Edna Williamson, of this city with whom she made her home. In addition there are three sons, Mr. 8. P. Taylor of this city, who with his family have lived here many years, Messrs. Walter E. Taylor, of East Point, Ga., and Frank Harper, of Lakeland, Fla. In addition there are several step sons and step-daughters, as fol lows: Mr. Henry Harrell, Mrs. Mary Harrell, and Messrs. Will, Ru fus and Walter Harper, Mrs. Lola Richter, Mrs.. Bob Tyus, all of Grady county and Mr. Bright Har per, of Lakeland, Fla. There are also four sisters, Mrs. W. L. Watson of Ochlochnee; Mrs. Florence Har rson, of Grady county, Mrs. J. W. Watson, of Ochlochnee; Mrs. J. W. Kea, of Hawthorne, Mla. There is a large number of grandchildren and great grandchildren, together with many other relatives here and throughout this section. The de ceased was a sister-in-law of Mrs. S. L. Kelly of this city and an aunt of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Kelly and Mrs. G. T. Anderson of Montgomery. All of the above together with mem bers of their families were here for the final rites, with the exception of Mr. Bright Harper of Lakeland, Mrs. Harper being present, how ever, Mrs. Harrell, came to Thomas ville about twenty years ago to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Williamson, for some time making her home with Mr. and Mrs. SS. P. Taylor and family on Hardaway street. During her resi dence here she has made many friends, having for many years prior to her removal here been a frequent visitor at the home of rel atives here. For the past ten years or more, Mrs. Harrell had been in declining health and a few weeks ago she suffered a serious heart attack. She had improved somewhat from this latest seizure however, and Saturday afternoon was able to ride down town for a few min utes. She returned home early in the evening and had spent an ap parently restful night, prior to her death which occurred with shock ing suddenness to her devoted daughter who was alone with her at the time, Mr. Williamson now being stationed at Goldsboro, N. C., where he is in the armed forc es. He arrived today at one o'clock to be with his wife. Mrs. Harrell was a devoted wife and mother, a friend and neighbor who was ever willing to devote her time and talents in behalf of others and in many ways her life has been a benediction to those who have been privileged to know and love her as a friend. Funeral arrangements were in charge of Whiddon's Funeral Home. Frends and relatives of Mrs. F. W. Carter of Starke, Fla., formerly Miss Christine Odom of Thomas ville, and Havana, Fla., will be interested to know that she is recuperating rapidly after a major operation in the Lake Shore Hospi tal in Lake City, Fla. Mrs. Carter is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Odom of Lake City. Mr. Walter C. Pittman, Jr., left yesterday for Fort MacPherson to be inducted into the U. S. Army. Mr. Pittman is a graduate of North Georgia College at Dahlonega and holds first alternate appointment to the Naval Academy at Anna polis.
