Albaugh was appoint* d olwrk pr*o-tom.Chairman of tho Firo Committee Carson road tho following communication}Marion, Iowa, March, 5th. 1934.To tho Honorable City Council of the City of Marion.Gentlemen:-We, the members of the Marion Fire Department,after having taken a vota at our regular meeting of March fourth, in regards to change in wages of our Chief and night man, beleive that at thia time it is not adviseable sinoe it will place our City Council in a place necessary for tham to hire a new chief and night man and at the wages set by the eity oounoil on Maroh third, ws beleive that no competent m»n oan bs hired at those wages, Our present chief and night man feel that they can not live on such a wage and it will be neoeseary for them to resign, therefore, sinoe it takes considerable time to break in new men, and as the danger from rsokless driving, no knoweledge of the equipment, chemicals t sot, and exceeding danger from exploding of the chemical tanks A set. which might oause much loss to property, and danger of lives, we therefore, earnestly ask the oity council to reconsider this motion, eo that we may continue as at present.Please advise ue by the fifteenth of March eo that we may make provisions to hold our present force together.Tours truly,Marion Firs Department,Geo Luenee, Secretary.Signed Members of Fire Department,Frank Coon, Leonard Beoker, L R King, George Luenee,G C Cheadle, Albert R King, Ray Prioe, Roy A Mullioen,w E Reinhamaer, J E Ning, w E Dennis, D 0 Wilkes, John Hess,Earnest, Woolsy, S F Cary, M L Hurley, C J Kassler, R C Pherrin,Lee Sumey, Thomas Cherry, Roy Franks.Aftsr a general discussion it was moved by Careon, and seconded by Albaugh, that former aotion regarding cut in salaries of fire department be reoinded, and that we proceed on the old basis} Motion carried, Falcon voteing No.
