Metro Squad board holds final meetingEven though the Metro Squad board dissolved itself Monday evening, the board may still be involved in a lawsuit stemming from an uncompleted Metro Squad investigation.The Metro board, which included representatives from Los Lunas, Belen and Valencia County, met to dissolve the squad officially Monday evening. The Metro Squad itself ran out of money on March 15 and has been disbanded since that date.Discussion was held on the confiscation of evidence from Bernard and Lucy Jaramillo. County Commission Chairman Frank Sedillo said, “I’d like to go on record as favoring the return of this evidence.Luis Torres Jr., who took over as commander of the squad when Bill Johnson left, said all the evidence was in the County Sheriffs evidence room and many of the uncompleted cases wereturned over to the district attorney’s office. No decision was made at Monday’s meeting about the Jara millos’ evidence. It was pointed out that the couple has threatened to sue the board, if they do not receive their property.In other board action, resignations were acceptedfrom former commander Bill Johnson, who is now work ing for the Grants Police Department; Luis Torres Jr., who is now working for the Belen Police Department and Veronica Martinez, secretary, who isthe squad.
