Negro Ordered Out Of House And Lay In Wait. BLOOD TRAIL TO UPPER FLOOR Murderer And Suicide Said By Vic tim In Ante-Mortem Statement To Have Been Jealous. Port Deposit, Md., March 81.—Beling or dered from the home of Louis Nelson on Race street, Port Deposit, on Wednesday night so angered Robert Green, a Degre, that this morning about 11 o'clock he re turned to the house and In the absence of Nelson, who is a day fireman at the Mc Clenahan quarries, lay in wait for Nelson's wife, closed the door upon her when she arrived and shot her through the left ear. Then he shot himself through the brain and heart, dying instantly. When Mrs. Nelson’s son returned from school at 4 o'clock he discovered the body of Green lying in a downstairs room. With the aid of neighbors he followed the course of his mother by the bloodstains on the steps and found her writhing on the floor in an upper room, with her brain oozing through the ear. Dr. R. P. Bay, of the University of Mary land, who was in Port Deposit on a special case, was hurried to the scene and ex pressed surprise that the woman still lived. He was joined afterward by Dr. G. Hamp ton Richards, and they state that had she been found before and put under treat ment the wound would not have proved fatal. She was conscious and made an ante mortem statement to Justice George P. Harwood that she had been shot by Green because she preferred Nelson to him. She died this morning at 7 o'clock and the county authorities have taken charge of the bodies, pending action by Coroner Frazer. Mrs. Nelson was a native of Port De posit and had a checkered career. Green was a Virginia negro, who recently came here to work in the quarries.
