Libertarians SquabblingHOLLIS - Meldrim Thomson Jr., has been endorsed in his bid to keep the governor’s seat by Arthur W Ketchen, founder of the Libertarian Party of New Hampshii*. ;“I don’t pretend to be 100 percent in agreement with Meldrim Thomson. There are strong areas of disagreement between he and I. But even when we have clashed in debate, I respected Mel as a man of his word, who stood by what he said, and who paid the bills he owned. No matter whatI regard as the inconsistenciesof his ideology - the personaltrustworthiness, integrity, and courage of the man speak highly of him. Because of those qualities I endorse the candidacy of Meldrim Thomson Jr. forgovernor of New Hampshire, and I urge all people who see merit m my opinion to support him at the polls in November,” said Ketchen.“On the other hand,” continued Ketchen, “there is the present Libertarian Party, which is neither libertarian nor a oarty. The “party” of William Hunscher and his gubernatorial candiidate “Mike” Everettbreaks contracts and tramples on property rights, while posturing as defenders of property rights. Can one be certain that the Libertarians would live up to their stated goals — when they can’t even act honorably toward the man who founded their New Hampshire organization?Ketchen said he was referring to the violation of the copyright agreement which the Libertarians had signed with him, giving Ketchen control of the party logo which he created. “I emphatically reject and condemn Everett’s candidacy and I suggest that she and her fellows start respecting property rights before they start talking about them, said Ketchen.
