He said KIVA operated on a regional basis serving Yuma and El Centro and areas around the two cities. He said if KIVA were forced to shut down by the operation KBLU, then 68,000 persons served by KFVA would be without television. He pointed out the KBLU-TV proposed to operate on a local scale, serving the Yuma area.Merrill said all he and his company had been trying to do is geta day in court to present their side. He said the company has lost money from 1955 until 1962 when it showed a profit of $6,000 and 1963 when it showed a profit of $22,000. He said KIVA was subsidized by the cable system, and would probably go out of business within a year if KBLU-TV was allowed to ojen.The Chamber board meetingwas presided over by Clarence(Sambo) Jones. It adjourned without taking any action on the report. Another meeting of the boardwas called for 4 p.m. today, but the report was not named as a specific item to be discussed.
