A, Carroll, president of the Kanawha Valley Broadcasting company, The station will operate with 1Q0 watts power on a frequency of 1500 kilocycles.The station will be an affiliate of the National Broadcasting com-pany and will broadcast programs on both the Red (WEAF) and Blue lt;WJZ) networks of the NBC. It is the first and only NBC sLationin southern West Virginia, andwil. join the NBC the day It goes on the air.The transmitter Is in Coal Branch Heights and fhe offices and studios are at 1016 Lee street.A program saluting Charleston and WGKV Is expected to- be arranged by NBC for presentation on a coast-to-eoast htjokup on a date yet to be designated.Station WGKV will be on the air approximately l5 to 18 hours each day. with definite times to be fixed. It was announced.In addition to NBC programs, WGKV will offer local la lent shows, religious’f tfrbadcasts, out* standing civic activities, news broadcasts, sports evenis and other features of general interest.Nationally famous artists will be heard regularly through the facilities of one of the country's leading j transcribed musical libraries.
