KVEO sale approvedThe sale of KVEO-TV, Channel23, to the newly formed Valley Broadcasting Co for $7 6 has been closed.The consummation of the saleThursday in Houston comes nearly two years after mvolun-ceedings began against former station owner Tierra Del Sol Broadcasting Corp of BrownsvilleValley Broadcasting’s majority shareholder and president is Billy B Goldberg, a Houston land investor and former state Democratic Party chairman Brownsville attorney. Sheldon Weisfeld. also is an owner and corporate secretary Houston media brokerLester Kamin is the third owner and vice president Corporate headquarters are in Houston.The Federal Communications Commission last month approved the saleRonald Sommers, a court ap pointed trustee and a bankruptcy specialist, said about $200,000 re mains outstanding in station debts Sommers, however, ex pects debts to be paid off with uncollected receivables Sommerssays it’s a “very strong probability debts will be paid off “100 cents on the dollar ”Earl Noel, general manager of the NBC network affiliate, said Channel 23 is in the process of developing news programming, which the station has been without since July of 1982 Noel, who previously was general manager of KRGV-TV, Channel 5, said news programming is expected to begin after the first of the year
