ROK Air BaseEvacuated4s River RisesOS AN, Korea, Sept. 14 (6th AF) — The rain-swollen Yom-sok-Chon River overflowed its, banks shortly aftei' noon yesterday, forcing evacuation of personnel from a ROK Air Force base on the northeast coast of South Korea.Some USAF and ROKAF personnel moved into tents and other shelter on nearby hills when the flood waters inundated the air base living quar-i ters. The area was under two i feet of water early last night.Runway Under WaterROK aircraft on the base were left on the runway, highest point to which the planes could be moved. A foot of water covered the runway at 6 p.m. yesterday.Roads leading to the base were impassable. A bridge giving access to the base has been closed to vehicular traffic, although troops are still able ' to cross on foot.jEarlier reports said a dam went out under pressure of the flood waters and that another dam may be in. danger of giving way. The reports, however, did not disclose the location of ; the dams.
