On Red Coastline4TAIPEH, Formosa, Sept.| 11 (INS) — Nationalist j planes and warships yesterday hastened to get insome more punches againstthe battered Red China mainland coast before approaching typhoon June interrupts the attacks ! across the Formosa Strait.The storm was closing in on the Nationalist Island stronghold of Formosa and the Communist Fukien Province coast * with winds reportedly up to 140 miles an hour.For the fifth straight day Nationalist bombers and fight-er-bombers yesterday smashed at the crippled Communist invasion buildup in Amoy Harbor while naval vessels, including American - supplied destroyers, pounded the area with shells.Pillar of Fire Returning airmen said they saw a 2,000-foot ‘'pillar of fire and smoke” rising over the Red strongpoint of Hochu on Amoy Island as the Nationalist planes dumped bombs, napalm and rockets on Communist gun batteries and other installations. •Only sporadic sorties were thrown yesterday against mainland coastal points neighboring the island port of Amoy.The Nationalist Air Force said one target bombed for the fifth day was the Red strongpoint known as White Stone Fort, described by the Nationalists as already “damaged beyond recognition” before yesterday's strike.The Communist China Air Force still failed to lift a wing in opposition to the Nationalist aerial battering but the raiding planes encounteredsome antiaircraft fire.± * *
