KUAC: Fund-raiserContinued from Page B-fpay the annual dues for National Public Radio, the network which provides the bulk of programs for KUAC-FM, including the popularmorning news program “Morning Edition.”Brigham said public broadcasters are increasingly reliant on pledges from listeners and viewers as government spending on public broadcasting steadily declines. Fairbanks donation levels rank high nationally, which bodes well for KUAC, he said.“We hope listener support keeps up at the level it is,” Brigham said. “It’s pretty darn good now.”To wrap up the Fall Festival, KUAC-FM hosted a show at the Wickersham Banquet Hall in downtown Fairbanks featuring dobro and Fiddle artist Stacy Phillips and local bluegrass band Northern River.Station manager Scott Diseth said the full house of about 80 people at the show reflected the high support for public broadcasting in Fairbanks and the Interior, even if pledges fell short of $175,000, and even if the cats lost.“We’re not singing the blues,” Diseth said. “We’re pretty happy about the way it turned out.”
