TODAY!^VALLEYMONDAY, OCTOBER 21. 1916Ogopogo SwallowsAlberta Calf WholeROCKY MOUNTAIN HOUSE, Alta., Oct 21 (CP)—A horned fiery-eyed gray beast, his long pointed teeth flashng in the sunlight and his scaly body lashing the water—the famous ogopogo of the Saskatchewan River—has reared its ugly head again, this time to snatch a calf from the bank of theClearwater River and swallow it.whole.taken to the shallower waters of the Clearwater.Since the Incident a few days ago, farmer Forbes ha* s arched along the bank, thinking tiie beast might be sunning himself in someRobert Forbes, who farms seven miles south of here, “saw” it take the calf as the animal stood drink-ing from the river.He taw the big head rite out of the water and grab the calf, he ran to the bank, thouted and threw rockt. He was sure he hit it, but the beast paid no attention and finally disappearedunder the water with its prey.2nd WEEK!Th s is the first time since 1943 the ogopogo has been seen. Other farmers have lost some stock, hut they did not suspect what was happening to them until Forbes saw the monster rear up and take his $50 cajf.j In other years the ogopogo has been seen in the Saskatchewan I River.
