Fashion AwardswIn its 31st year of pinpointing the key contributors to American fashion individuality, t h e Coty American Fashion Critics’ Awards gave 1973 honors to 12 designers.The awards presentation and the showing of the winners’ current designs were Wednesday evening in New York’s Lincoln Center.Dina Merrill, the actress and vice-president of Coty Inc., sponsors of the awards since their inception in 1942, was mistress of ceremonies and presented the trophies.“A fine designer’s work is as recognizable by its unique ’brush stroke’ and color palette as that of a painter.
