Juba Wants FoJkfest Encore In 1971Folklorama, which was so 7; pillar earlier this year, probably will return to Winnipeg for an encore performance in 1971.Mayor Steve Juba hosted the Manitoba Mosaic Congress banquet Thursday evening and told the 250 supper guests that he couldn’t commit the city to a set sum of money towards the2971 venture.But he enthusiastically sup* ports the idea of a 1971 folklorama, he said in an interview later. The city, however, must have priorities in Its spending.Mayor Juba wants the folklorama festival to grow each year so that by the city’s centennial year, 1974, it will have gained prominence in fun and the number taking part jFor the first such venture this year, the city gave $15,000. Metropolitan Toronto, which has a similar festival, last year offered their group $140,000.An estimated 50,000 people enjoyed the 1970 Winnipeg folklorama.Cecil Semchyshyn, chairman of the Manitoba Folk Arts Council which co-ordinated the 1970 festival, said that while more money would be appreciated, a 1971 venture certainly is feasible — with city supportMr. -Symehyshyn would like, however, a commitment from the dty council soon.
