KNAU BeginsCastsKNAU is on the air! KNAU, formerly KASC, began broad-cauting last Saturday night with tests to find out how strongits signal was. Regular programming started Monday night.KNAU’s transmitted is located on the roof of Sechrist Hall and the first programs were taped music until the studios «ere completed in the Journalism Building. The station received many calls as to the programs being aired which showed an interest on the part of the students listening.William D. Uecker, manager of the station said he was very liappy with the work done by the engineers to get the station on the air. KNAU had no plansof returning to the air untilthe Federal CommunicationsCommission granted NAU an FM license. When Uecker became manager three weeks ago it was decided to put the station lack together and start broadcasting as soon as possible. In the three weeks the engineering staff put on the transmitter and finished the newcontrol rooms.KNAU is located at 1000 on the dial and has a stronger signal than ever before. New equipment will make it possibl to broadcast remotes from different locations on and off campus.KNAU operates with funds received from the Associated Students and from selling advertising. Already this year some advertising agencies from New Turk have requested to placenational advertising on the station.The exact times of broadcasting hours are not known at this P time sice all the students enrolled In radio workshop have aot been assigned jobs on the staff. However, expanded coverage of campus news is expected and KNAU hopes to be more of a ' ‘voice ** on ca mpus.
