The food behind the concession stand counter will be similar.The big difference in the movie theater that will open on South Church Street in Burlington on Thursday is the Spanish subtitles and overdubs.A Durham company is opening a new theater that caters to the Hispanic community in a theater space on South Church Street that has sat empty since February. Klden White, president of Vanderbilt Cinemas, says the theater opening in the same shopping center as Big Lotsand Office Depot will be the first of itskind in North Carolina.White's company, which now does business as Vanderbilt Staffing and wants to expand into the movie theater trade andother businesses, is based in Durham. But he and Scott ie Torain, the company's marketing director, live in Mebane.White said he sees a market for a theater that caters to Latinos in Alamance County. He wants to open 10 theaters across North Carolina by the end of next year. He thinks many Latinos now attend movies though they understand little or none of the dialogue.The theater will open up Thursday with the Jackie Chan action film ’ The Tuxedo. The theater’s playlist will concentrate on action and comedies. Some films will have Spanish subtitles and some will have overdubbing.“I’m just excited for them because now they can come and watch a good movie and understand it.
