After a week of utiiuterinittent wet weather, during the latter part of which Umi barometer had given unequivocal feigns of uu impending atmospheric jBonvukiou, twenty-four hours of hem* v and incessant ram, ushered in u (uriou* wiud-storua on Sunday evening. The howls and gusts of wind, liku the shriek* lt;Jf some storm fiend sent abroad , on hft task of destruction aad ruin, resounded through the streets and limes ol the citr, striking terror to the heartsI of thoeelwhojruraembered, spite ofthem-felvee, the’terrible destnu-tmn—sum-ftuies of a city or an island—which bus often been experienced in those latitudes at tin* season of the year. It eOutmyud toiucrcaM. in intensity and Strength until about eight in the evening, When it diminished •. avdually, and by midmght the atimnphere had resumed its usual serenity. But the Btormng revealed the damage Ghaj, had been done. Though visible principally 0k the sea-board It had bc«u piv.i ! all %Andrew’s, trees and chimneys fed victims to the weather. But it was along the seaboard that the worst effects ol the storm were manifest. The foundations of the Mill Store of Messrs. Verloy, Robinson Co. were, washed away, and several of the outbuildings destroyed, while the pier of their wharf strandea in the centre, leaving a yawning gulf of fifteen feet width between them. Several of the plunks of the pier at the Prince's wharf* planks Were also torn up by the fury of the waves. Ast wood’s pier is almost wholly destroyed. The pier at Central wharf is seriously damaged, that at the Government’s is a ruin, the shed having fallen in. Not to particularize, there is no wharf in the city which has not received more or less damage. The list of casualties in the harbour and at Port, Royal, as far as we have been able to gather, is as followsThe schooner Frances Anno, the property of Captain Peynado sunk be-tiV 'Hii Albergas’sand Central Wh rf. lhe GtRslle being driven in front of her, and cu isideiably injured and the AnnoPlt; Bay Packet and sloop Princess R. yal, are seriously injured.Schooner Village Bello with a cargc of salt,230© bushots, conrigned to Alta-uunt D©0ordova, E^q., went down al Brown’s wharf; cargo uninsuredSchor Louisa—carried away her bow sprit.Brigand—Dominican schr, ashore at E.
