Ireland of 861 First street, the “monster” again showed itself to Miss Isobel Willianmson, 6 Division avenue, on Friday evening.’Miss Williamson told The News that she was taking her dog for a stroll along the riverbank about 7:30 when she heard a clanking noise, which she said sounded like strong jaws snap* ping and opening quickly.SERPENTS HEADContinuing her way down the bank she saw a large object cruising in the backwater. As described by Miss Williamson “the creature had the head of a serpent, with a definite curve from the head to the neck, and appeared to be a mottled color with no fur or hair but resembled* the skin of a reptile.” Apparently startled by the dog, the “object” increased its speed, which, she said, “could easily out-distance the strongest swimmer, and so only a quick estimate of its size could be made. She calculated its width at between a foot to 18 inches at the widest part of the body and “could have measured approximately four feet or more in length.”Its mouth remained in the water, continued Miss Williamson, all the time and was not noticeably open. (Mrs. Ireland said when she saw “IT” on Tuesday “the4bie mouth opened and closed continually”.)As it swam away it raised its back and brought its tail down with a loud slap on the water, and then submerged. “The tail was unmistakably that of a large fish,” she concluded.
