IN SOCIETY’S WHIRLYesterday’s Functions Very Elegant an Enjoyable Affairs.Mrs. Joshua Pool's afternoon with cards given Friday at her elegant home in North Franklin street, will long be remembered by Greensburg society devotees. Mrs. Pool stands unexcelled as a hostess and is noted for her generous and gracious hospitality. The brilliantly lighted parlors with their rare decorations of cut flowers, palms and srnilax, which fell in graceful festoons from chandelier and doorway over a bevy of fair women whose smiles, repartee and wit were mingled with musical strains from Mendelssohn's melodies, all combined to make a most enchanting affair. The hostess was assisted in receiving by her charming sisters, Mrs. Ida Cumback and Mrs. Jessie Moore. At the conclusion of the games a handsome collation was served. The guest prize- for the afternoon was a beautiful jeweled bell buckle, and was awarded to Mrs. C. W. Harvey, of Indianapolis. The lone hand prize was several jeweled scarf pins and Mrs. El wood Carter was the fortunate winner. The consolation prize was a “jumping frog” of veritable Mark Twain style and was given to Mrs. Moody Covert. The out-of-town guests were Mrs. Porter and Mrs. Morris, of Shelbyyille, and Mrs. Ilarvey, of Indianapolis.
