IDAY EVENING, MARCH 19, HY oung Authors’ClubFLORITA COOK, EditorIlt;8-----------Q| LITTLE AUTHOR I CONTRIBUTIONSa--—-§Note: The work of a few of the younger members of this group is published today.THE NIGHT IN THE DOLL HOUSE Original by Xenia Rood berg, age 8It was the last night, I fell asleep. And I saw things that made me leap;I heard some shouts and laughter gay, They came from where my doll house lay. There all my dolls were busy dancing, And Plnoccblo was prancing;Black Hannah with her little brooms Was nicely sweeping all the rooms; Masha was setting trays for tea.And Beth came out and said to me: Oh, Xenia, come and join our fun, And have some tea and have a bun.”I did not wonder in the least— |Jumped out of bed and joiend the feast.I felt like Alice in Wonderland,As I was dancing with the band. But all at once a noice was heaid, And from the ceiling came a bird;It was as big as big can be—The Crow was after Dum and Dee! We all ran frightened from the Crow, But Robin took his little bow And ... I don’t know what happened then.Because the sun was here again.t(Are there any of us who do not enjoy make-believe? Dolls going on a lark while their mistresses are asleep or away is a favorite topic for the younger writers, and personally I always enjoy such imaginings; especially when told in such smooth rhythm as Xenia has accomplished. She says she took special pains with the rhythm. Now, don’t you thing It pays?5Tnnla tirr t/\ tiraan Trruir nnpn1C\
