The lecture was an innovation considering th» others delivered there this season, being on the “Life and Works of Hil liard Wagner/'Mrs. Kate Wardwell Buck read a highly interesting paper covering the life of Wagner, describing ids operas [and the incidents leading to their conception, while Mrs. Florence Atherton Spalding illustrated the lecture by selections taken from the different operas. Mrs. Buck had a pleasing delivery and Mrs. Spalding was endowed with a peculiar adaptability for interpreting Wagner.
