It’s not what I would consider to be an attractive building, by any means And it’s not easy to get to. I suspect that Wildwood will hear more complaints about the single road that leads to the theater, past the new Pine Tree Plaza off Highway 14,than anything else, at least to begin with I d just gotten out of my car Fnday evening when a woman who was leaving the theater asked me if there was another way out When she heard that she was stuck with the poorly lighted, curving road that serves as access to the plaza. Home Depot and other stores, she was not pleased Not a good be ginningHere soneimprovementovertheRockMovie goers won’t have to wait outside incommentarysnow, sleet or sweltering sun to buy a ticketTwo cashiers and a large lobby face the wide entrance To the right. as you enter, are a small arcade room and a customer service counter, which will be staffed mostly on weekends and holidays, said Tracy Wem-shrott, one of Wildwood s managersBehind the cashiers is the long, oval refreshments counter The management haspledged no wait ” service, seven stafferswaited patiently for customers on Fnday night But on Sunday evening, just two staff ers were there, and movie chat between a staffer and customer did result in a wait for another customerHere’s where the little details that have yet to be finished began to show; there was no sign indicating prices for the sodas, candy and popcornAnd just six of the 10 screens were ready for viewing, with I land written paper signs indicating which movie was in which screen ing room One staffer told me the screening rooms were all ready, but the theater couldn’t get 10 movies Not so I poked into all 10 rooms, and four were clearly not finishedAll of the screens seem to be of decent size, unlike those in the Rock's smaller screening rooms, although there is no 70mmscreen for wide format moviesWlule not aU of the rooms have equal sound systems, the miiumal system in the screening room where I saw Rushmore ’ was good not state-of the art. nund you. but fineThe screening rooms do not have sepa rate projection rooms, a single corridor runs above the 10 theaters, allowing a single staff person to maintain all 10 projectors I’m not sure that s going to result in first class service— with a staffer checking the framing, light quality and focus of each film as it starts, every time it starts But it’ll make it easier than if the projectors were in separate rooms, forcing staffers to rush up and down stairs to start and check each movieThe seats in the ••Rushmore” screening room were a little roomier than those at the Rock, but they're a long, long way from being comfortable for two hours Janesville movie fans who enjoyed the plush reclining seats in the downtown Park Place’s largest screening room won t be happy with these at all C’upholders are attached to each seat, which is nice, but the rows aren’t spaced far enough apart to make it easy to get aroundthose protuberancesAnd stadium seating? The multiplex is practically a duplicate of Wildwood's luxury 10 com plex in Beloit.
