Mermaid lt;isits NewThe dimpled mermaid of Active Pass turned up again Thursday at Cordova Bay — at almost the same moment a group of hoaxers claimed to be fishing her out of Cowichan Bay.The creature—still described as a topless blonde with kmg hail', half girl, half fish—was sighted briefly on a rock in the vicinity of Sayward Beach, at about 5 p.m.Mrs. J. M. Reifel of 1341 Hillside was taking a last look at the beach before leaving for the mainland, when she •potted the mystery mermaid.“The darndest thing, she called it.“I’d finished my packing and there was a bit of nice weather, so 1 went out to have a last look at some of the beauty spots.* ★ *ifI was coming up the beach and over some rocks, and there she was. 1 thought at first It was Just some girl getting a tan, but then I could see the tail.
