The Stato has four Representatives, one of whom is chosen at largo. In tho First District, Gauso (Domocrat) ran against Hodges (Republican), „na waa elected by 1,600majority. The “official” returns of Clayton, Dorsey, et al.„ elected Ilodgos, Gauso, awaro that tho Houbo, in its then tem-por, would not decide a contested election against a Republican, though tho cose against him were provod ton times ovor, doclinod to mako any farther fight. Hodges took his soat without opposition. The investigation has shown that he has no valid title to it.In the Second District, tho Republican candidate, Snydor, was probably elected. Ho now has the seat.In (the Third District, Thomas ST. Gunter-(Democrat) was opposed by W. W. Wilahiro (Bo-publioan). The former was olectod by about 6,000 majority. Some d,600 of those votes were counted out, but tho majority was still 1,400. Then; Gov. Baxter certified to Congress that tho .vote stood thus tW. TV. Bo of, course they misspelt most laboriously. ,On the showing of this return, tho House, in February of this year, seated WJlshire. Republican members protested In vaiu. Gou. Hawley said that tho.returus, dootorod as they wore, showed that Guntor bad a majority of 000 to 1,400. Tho investigation shows a majority of 0,000. Now. mark the soquol. When tho Baxtor-Brooks squabblo began, ‘Wilahiro turned around with Baxter against Clayton, and Dorsoy, and Brooks, —that is, against tho Republican party. Whereupon the House, June 17, did, without ton minutes’ t debate, unseat tho recalcitrant Wilshhe and admit Gunter by an unanimous vote.
