Concordia Hospital Being InvestigatedBy MANFRED JAGER Fret; Press Medical ReporterLarry Desjardins, chairman of 1hlt;; Manitoba health services commission, lias confirmed that a full-fledged investigation of Concordia Hospital concerning possible medical, board and administrative irregularities has been launched.The investigation is understood to involve incidents which may have contributed to a number of patient deaths at the hospital during 1973.Dr. James R. Morison, registrar of the College ot Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba, said Tuesday his agency, which licenses physicians in the province and can discipline them, now has been approached to participate in the investigation.Mr. Desjardins confirmed the inquiry Monday when confronted with reports from a member of the Concordia Hospital staff who told The Free Press last week the investigation is under way,However, Mr. Desjardins, who lias been in his new position for only two weeks (he was formerly tourism minister), declined to elaborate on what triggered the action and what its extent will be.The chairman also refused to comment on specific details of the situation which led to the inquiry but said the hospital has agreed to co-operate in the pro-noedings.—Continued See CONCORDIA Page 15
