announcesschedule changesBy JUDY KRIEGER Courier staff writerA new game show, Disney adventures and “a whole new series of movies” are part of schedule changes at Ottumwa’s KOIA-TV station.The changes — in effect for about a month — enable the station to offer a standard program throughout the week, so viewers “can get the same thing every day,” said A1 Crounse, program director and general sales manager.KOIA is now a Fox Network Station, Crounse said, with the Fox Late Show airing at 10:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.Also, “we pick up F\)x on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m.,” he said. The Gary Shandling Show will be added March 6, airing at 9:30 p.m. Sundays.The station also has a new package of movies to air now through1993.“We’re in the process of purchasing some 500 new' films to use,” he said.“Dumbo,” for instance, will be shown next year; “The Color of Money” not until 1993.Other movies to be offered include such classics as: “Singing In the Rain,” “Meet Me in St. Louis,” “Casablanca,” “Treasureof Sierra Madre” and “CitizenKane.”Baseball games will be offered this summer — possibly the Kansas City Royals and others — and Crounse hopes the Hawkeye Sports Network again will be offered next season.The “Star Trek Next Generation series will continue as will “Friday the 13th. ”New- next fall will be “War of the Worlds,” a futuristic Star Trek-type show.The Eiest of the Wonderful World of Disney leads off the new daily schedule at 5 p.m., offering the best of Disney’s 20 years on the air, with such features as “Davey Crockett” and movies like “Old Yeller.”“Win, Lose or Draw” is one of the top new' game shows around, Crounse said.Distributed by the Disney company, it’s hosted by Bert Convey and produced by Convey and actor Burt Reynolds.The new Monday through Friday schedule is:5 p.m. — Best of Disney.6 p.m. — Win, Lose or Draw.6:30 p.m. — The New NewlywedGame with Bob Eubanks.7 p.m. — Bonanza.8 p.m. — Movie.10 p.m. — The New Dating Game with Jeff Macgregor.10:30 p.m. — The Fox Broadcasting Late Show.
