Lights, Circular ObjectsBv MARY HYREPoint Pleasant CorrespondentCHESHIRE - Strange objects have been seen in the Cheshire area during the past several weeks, but witnesses have been reluctant to talk about the sightings. Sunday night, however, several revealed their stories.Mrs. Rov Grose. Cheshire,1/said that she was awakened by the barking of her dog at 4:45 a.m., Nov. 17. She got up to see what was wrong.The moon was shining very brightly that night, she said, and when she looked out thekitchen window, she saw a bright-colored circular object on the other side of Route 7.The saucer - shaped object, Mrs. Grose went on, was the size of a small house with what looked like sections or compartments of blue and red w in dows.The object was over an open field at about housetop level, she said, and its brilliant lights were visible for about 30 or 40seconds before it zigzagged and; People Tellsuddenly disappeared.As she was watching the object, Mrs. Grose said that she was afraid to call the rest of the family because it might have left by the time they got back to the window. In describing her feelings of that morning, the housewife and piano teacher said only, “I wasstunned.”On the other side of town, Charles Hern, an employe at the Kyger Creek Power Plant, took his dog out for a walk along the Ohio River at about 6:30 a m. last Thursday morning.He noticed a red light across the river. At first he thought it was only a trapper in a boat checking his muskrat traps, but as he looked he realized that itwas something he had never seen before, he said.He called his wife, and together they saw that the light was on the shore. It appeared, they said, that little people were going to and from the object.Mrs. Hern said that they, wereOf Strange Sightings~ n r*so stunned and dazzled that they decided to call their neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Taylor.Mrs. Taylor, a school teacher, was the first to come outside, and she, too, saw the red and orange lights shining from the object by the river. She said that one of the lights was directed toward the water part of the time. Taylor, who arrived at the scene soon after his wife, collaborated with the other witnesses.Although the others w e n t back inside, Mrs. Hern remained outside for awhile. The lights wfent out she said, and then lights of another color appeared. Then, she said, the object went straight up and vanished.Hern said, “I’ve lived on this river bank since I was 12 yearsold and I know every boat light,but this definitely was something I’ve never seen before.’*A high school student reportedly saw an object of a similardescription south of there atabout 5 a.m. that same morning.A George Creek woman reported that she was traveling along George Creek Road at about 7 pm. Friday evening with her four children when they saw a redish orange me-talic object just above a utility pole. It was the size of a helicopter, she said, adding that it definitely was not one.She said that it moved along the highway in front of the car for about a mile, disappearing as it approached the brighter lights of the power transformers.The sightings were near the area w here a large bird-I i k e creature has been reported in recent weeks.John A.
