NELSONVILLE - Four Nel-sonville women returning Wednesday night from work at theLogan Goodyear plant were quite shaken when a huge bird nearly collided with their car near the Johnny \pples e e d Roadside Park, near the Ath-ens-Hocking Count 5 line onRoute 33.From their description, thebird is similar to a creaturewhich has been sighted in the vicinity of Point Pleasant for several weeks.Dixie Auflic-k was driving the car. Passengers were Edna Guess, Betty Hook and Kathleen Bond, all Goodyear employes.The incident occurred sometime between 11 and 11:30 p.m.AppleseedParkMrs. Guess said they had stopped at the park to close a car door which had been not tightly latched. They traveled afew hundred feet from the park when the bird swooped in front of the car from the rightThere Ls a small swamp area between the highway and the railroad, extending to the Hocking River.Mrs, Guess said the birdbarely skimmed over the top of the car and could be seen clearly. It had large red eyes. The bodv was described as “brown-Vi.sh and silver y.” Another smaller bird followed close behind, they said.A youth in Haydenville reportedly saw a similar birdnear that community early lastweek.
