Thomson dispute settledTORONTO — A battle over Ontario TV news anchor Beverly Thomson that pitted Can West, owner of Global TV, against rival CTV has been settled out of court, clearing the way for Thomson to start new duties at a national morning show this November.Global’s star anchor was hired away by CTV earlier this year, sparking a fight in which CanWest filed an injunction claiming Thomson was still under an exclusive three-year contract. The injunction was set to be heard in Ontario Superior Court yesterday, but it didn’t proceed because the parties involved reached an agreement late Thursday, said Global lawyer Adam Stephens.“The parties early last (Thursday) evening were able to resolve the mat-ter, Stephens said in an interview outside the courtroom.Stephens had just informed the judge hearing the injunction that “the issue had been resolved between the parties.”CTV wouldn’t comment on the settlement, saying only, in a statement, that “all litigation between CTV and Global concerning Beverly Thomson has been resolved to the mutual satisfaction of all parties.”The release said Thomson will be joining CTV as co-host of Canada AM starting on Nov. 3,In an interview, CTV spokesman Tom Curzon also said Thomson wouldn’t be available to the media to comment on the settlement.
