Navy destroyer Rowan left her Formosa patrolstation early yesterday morning to search for a small Japanese ship reported in distress in the typhoon-whipped East China Sea.Yesterday afternoon theRowan radioed that she hadproceeded through rough seas and entered the critical typhoon area. At last reports, however, she had not established communications with the Ebisu Maru.
