Company ready to buy KGBT-TVBy BILL HETHCOCK Valley Morning StarHARLINGEN — South Carolina-based Cosmos Broadcasting Corp. on Monday announced plans for a $42 million purchase of KGBT-TV of Harlingen, the Valley’s CBS affiliate.In an interview at the station Monday, Cosmos Broadcasting President Jim Keelor said viewers won’t see any immediate changes.“Viewers and advertisers should not know a change has occurred,” he said. “We want the transition to be as seamless as possible. We want a local, local image.”KGBT-TV, broadcast on Channel 4, is owned by a limited partnership whose general managing partner is Draper Communications Inc. based in Salisbury, Md.Cosmos has signed a definitive purchase agreement to acquire KGBT. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval by the Federal Communications Commission.
