China.—lly (he clipper ship Challenge, at San Francisco, 4t days from Hong Kong, we have advices from China to the 14th of May.The U. S. Minister, Gen. Ward, and hie Secretary, on their way to the Court tf Pekin came passengers by the steamer Gauges to Penang, where he embarked lt;n the 128th April, in the U. S. steam frigate Powhatan, under a salute due to his rank. A» 1 P M Gen. Ward lauded under salute from Fort Cornwallis.We hear, says the Register of Mav 13th that the steamer Hong Kong has been chartered by the American Government fur the purpose of accompanying Gen Ward on his journey to the North. She leaves tor Canton this morning, towing the body of Yeh, for interment in that city. On her return it is reported she will be fitted for sea immediately.We regret to hear that Com. Tattnall is severely indisposed, on board the U. S steam frigate Powhatan. We hear her stay will ne short, as Gen Waul is anxious to proceed to Pekin as soon aspossible.
